    Dr. Pornelle,

Through the years, I have spent many a late hour pouring over your Byte columns, applying the lessons you taught us. Much enjoyment and knowledge gleaned from your work as well.

I pray for your continued recovery and good health in the future! Thank You for all you have done for us. God Bless.

    Rob

  2. Dear Jerry,

I’ve been a fan for years; even before BYTE magazine. So glad to hear that you’re continuing to recover. I know the road may be long and arduous, but your positive attitude and fertile mind will surely sustain you.

    Cheers. All the best.

    Lewis

    Dear Dr Pournelle:

So very pleased by your continuing recovery progress. Best to you and your lady wife.

Have been a fan and an admirer since your first published fiction in Analog, have at least one copy of all you works. Waiting as patiently as I can for the Next Janissaries. Why the Sci Fi channel hasn’t made a mini series or continuing series out of it, I don’t know.

Love you guest shots on the podcast.

    Live much longer and prosper.

    very respectfully/ Matt.

Used to look forward to the latest issue of Byte magazine, your column was always a treat.

    Wish you well.

Just checking in and glad to hear you are still breaking things up – just not yourself! Since old NASA days, I’ve admired your quick wit and unique observations of life. It is you and Harlan E. who are to me like touchstones when the world gets so nutty that I cannot otherwise see straight – you guys keep me feeling alive in the mind. Thank you and above all, continue on!

    Dear Dr. Pournelle,

Thanks for all you do and for sharing your work. I am gratified you move from victory to victory in your struggles with the human frailty that tries to limit all of us! I’m now in my 70th year of life and 8th since moving aboard a sailboat to experiment with a floating nomadic retirement. Your thoughts and great work inspires us all!

    Jerry,

Hope you continue to get better. I read your fiction as a teenager, read your old BYTE column Chaos Manor, and actually worked with one of the pilots of the old DC-X program (you were one of the major early supporters as I understand). We both work in what was then Phillips Lab for the US Air Force. I hope I continue to read your work (whatever it is) for a long time.

  8. Hi Jerry. Wishing you well soon. I have been a reader of Byte going back to 1976 and always loved Chaos Manor. Keep up the good work.

  9. Carl Haddick says:

Best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery. There are names that true students of the modern renaissance will always recognize. Forest Mims, for example, brought enlightenment to breadboarders. Jerry Pournelle is another such luminary, and the journey is hardly begun.

Godspeed in your recuperation, Jerry, measured, of course, in furlongs per fortnight.

  10. Gunter says:

    Sir,

I started reading your work in High School.

I can’t tell you how it influenced me with words, so I’ll just say thank you.

After coming back from Afghanistan, I understand even more.

Thanks for everything, and get well soon.

I’ve read your essays since the BYTE days, about 1981. Be well. Blessings. I loved the “old days” when you talked about Dr. Godbout’s “boat anchor” computer, or you friend, Zeke, the Zenith PC clone. Meanwhile, this seems a good time to read real science fiction, starting with yours.

    John

  12. David says:

I have been a reader of your work for a long time and I wish you a full and fast recovery.

  13. Chip Meyer says:

Best wishes! I look forward to your continuing advise and observations!

  14. Thomas Miller says:

I enjoyed seeing you on the recent TWIT webcast. My best wishes for your complete recovery.

  15. Mike Cheek says:

Jerry, I still have some of your columns I cut out from old issues of BYTE, somewhere in one of my filing cabinets. Next step is to scan them in at some point. In any case I’m one of many long time readers and look forward to even more columns!!!

  16. Enrique says:

Dear Jerry, was always a reader of your column in Byte magazine and now a frequent visitor to your site. I wish you a full and speedy recovery. Looking forward to many more years of Chaos Manor!

    Cheers!

  18. John Welch says:

    Dear Jerry,

I’ve been reading your “reports from Chaos Manor” since discovering Byte in 1981.

Best wishes, hopes, and prayers as you recover.

    Dear Jerry,

Return visitor here, going back all the way to the BIX days. My first visit in months, was shocked to read about your stroke. Really glad to read that you are doing well. Wishing you a full and quick recovery,
