Dear Jerry, I have been a fan of your Chaos Manor writings since your first writing in Byte in 1980. Being 13 years old at that time. 😉

Later, I started reading your books (together with Larry Niven), and became a great fan. Your writings gave me a lot of enjoyment, and a few important insights into the life, the universe and everything.

I was sorry to read about your stroke. So I wanted to take this opportunity to wish you a great recovery, and hope that you will keep up the motivation to have your unique outlook in write your books. I hope I can enjoy them for some time to come.

But I also hope that you will enjoy writing for some time to come. Don’t let the intended destination cloud your enjoyment of the ride!

I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting you, Dr. but I got to spend a few moments with your partner in crime, Niven. I would have loved yo have met you as well.

As one who is a stroke survivor myself – two in an afternoon but fairly minor – I can understand your feeling of frustration. My strokes fortunately did not hit in any morot areas – just speech center and sensorium. I still have bouts of anomic aphasia. All I can say is hang in there. It will get better. And for goodness sake, make sure the medicos figure out where/how the clot formed and do what’s necessary to prevent more!

Now, When are you and that Niven fellow going to write a sequel to “Hammer”? The field could use your take on post apocalypse life. Of course you could also write about race relations in a sequel to “Footfall”.

You, my good sir, are a treasure. I am glad you are still with us.

In the late 1970’s your work greatly influenced my thinking about technology, space, defense and economics.
