From Tor books, is just out. (well, it was "just out" when I wrote that.) It is up front in "new arrivals" in many book stores. You can also order one from Amazon books if you prefer that. To order a hardbound copy click HERE. As of August 3, 1999 it is available in paperback, and you can order one from Amazon: click here.
Starswarm is a novel in the Jupiter series created by Dr. Charles Sheffield and myself, but unlike HIGHER EDUCATION which we did together, this one is by me alone, and in a somewhat different universe from the one of HIGHER EDUCATION. Technically it's a 'juvenile' in that the lead character is a teenager when the book ends. Like all traditional juveniles there's no sex scene; indeed, given the age of the characters, it would be pretty shocking if there were; not that Kip is naive about sex. Kip isn't naive about anything even if he is fairly young. I think of it as a bit more than just a juvenile, and so have the reviewers.
It has had wonderful reviews. There is an adult plot, there are computers, dogs, aliens animals and a strange planet, and a whole bunch of other stuff. Some people think it's the best thing I have done. I can't really argue.
If you click around in this web site you will find some introductory chapters, and my introduction to the book. Be sure to buy a couple as presents.
I have also revived my recommended books. Click HERE.
Incidentally, the best way you can help an author is to order books early when they are first coming out. This talks the publisher into printing more.
